Preparing a child for the world that doesn't exist is not an easy task for any teacher. Step back and look at that picture from a broad perspective. What are the critical skills every student needs to survive and succeed in our world? What abilities and traits will serve them in a time thats changing and developing so rapidly?

Personal learning goals
Personal learning goals are in place of classroom rules, we believe that if we demonstrate these goals to our learners, they will become effective learners in school and, in future, successful in whatever path they choose. Here are some of the learning goals we shall use in class. Cooperation (working with others) ,  Resilience (keep trying, never give up), Communication (talking to each other, body language), Respect (listening to each other in class).

Problem solving
Learners need the ability to solve complex problems in real time. In the future, complex problems that we cant even conceive right now will be everywhere. As society advances, so will the complexity of its manageable conflicts. The more we focus on student ability to device effective solutions to real world problems, the more successful those learners will become.

Creativity
Learners need to be able to think and work creatively in both digital and non digital environments to develop unique and useful solutions.

Analytic thinking
Learners need the ability to think analytically, which includes proficiency with comparing, contrasting, evaluating, synthesizing, and applying without instructions or supervision.

Communication
They must be able to communicate not just with text or speech, but in multiple multimedia formats. They must be able to communicate visually through video and imagery as effectively as they do with text and speech.

Essential Teaching resources/Materials

Dotted cards- I will use these cards in Maths lessons as well to tech subitizing and to develop number concept.
Posters- I will have different posters of different subjects and I will place them on the wall for the children to read them every time they want to read.
A bible- This will help me to tell bible stories during my Religious and Moral Education.

Personalized learning environment

Personalized learning is an emergency trend that seeks to support student centered, 21st century teaching and learning. Founded on the premise that greater flexibility in curricular pace and instructional styles and formats will improve overall student achievement, the personalized learning model provided learners with access to numerous options within the learning community and the initiative to help steer their own education. In a personalized learning environment, learners typically follow a unique learning path dictated by an individualized learning plan, as opposed to a rigid paced curriculum.

Key findings:
Best practices for personalized learning professional development closely resemble best practices for personalized learning for students. Four areas should be closely considered in the development of professional development opportunities:

  • the learning environment and culture
  • the content and structure of teacher learning
  • the timing, duration, and frequency of professional development
  • the use of data and feedback.
Schools should offer more support and time for training, but teachers also need to take responsibility for their own growth. They should be given the time to develop; to share and to train in order to meet the needs of an evolving audience.
I only wish that schools would change the day we structure our training techniques in order to provide time within the working week to allow teachers to act on this advice. It is time a grasped this opportunity with both hands and put back into the workforce what we expend everyday in classrooms across the country.

So far 180 people have died, most of them in Gauteng and  now major retailers have started pulling affected products off the shelves.

The department is advising South Africa to avoid polony, viennas, russians and other ready to eat meat products for now as they are believed to be the source of the latest listeriosis outbreak.

The government blamed the sausage known as polony for the listeria poisoning that has killed 180 people. It advised people not the eat any processed meat.

It ordered a recall of the product, prompting shops to clear their shelves.

Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana, and Zambia followed suit, all ordering a recall or suspending imports.
